The Atlantic Studios Co-operative (ASCO), established in 2004, provides
professional motion picture and television productions in Newfoundland and
Labrador with the best lighting and grip equipment available.
In the past, the cost of bringing production equipment to Newfoundland and
Labrador strained production budgets and acted as a deterrent to producer's
otherwise attracted to the region. The additional cost of transport, and fuel
charges made Newfoundland and Labrador an expensive location. Those
days are over!
ASCO's inventory provides an array of film and television lighting including
HMI & Tungsten, Kino-Flos, Grip Equipment, Car Mounts, Dolly Track, a
Giraffe Classic Crane with a 32ft extension, housed in its own travel trailer,
complete with 50 Feet of Filmair track; and two 10 ton tandem axle trucks,
complete with belly bins and hydraulic lift gates, one outfitted as a grip
truck, the other as a generator truck with 1200 amp 3- phase 120/208
volt crystal sync output.
ASCO's professional service oriented staff ensures that all production needs
can be met. Our close working relationship with other equipment houses in
eastern Canada, enables us to supplement inventory in order to facilitate
more specialized requirements.
ASCO is able to link producers to potential studio locations in St. John's, and
Corner Brook, or to the National Research Council's WaveTank in St. John's.
ASCO is a non-profit Co-operative with producers and technicians as members.
Profits over expenses are reinvested in the Co-op to renew and maintain
equipment.
Since its establishment, ASCO has provided services to numerous professional
productions in Newfoundland and Labrador including: Life With Derek; Above
and Beyond; Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism; Hatching, Matching and
Dispatching; Heyday; Canadian Idol; Outlander; Young Triffie's Been Made
Away With; Skate Canada; The One That Got Away; Love and Savagery;
